French environmentalist and photographer, Yann Arthus-Betrand, spent a large part of 1995 somewhere between five and two thousand metres above the ground. The result was a spectacular inventory and scientific study of the Earth, and led to the publishing of La Terre vue du ciel (The Earth from the air).
