If you harbor terrorists, you are a terrorist

Or are you?

President Bush had a determined gaze in his eye when he declared, “If you harbor terrorists, you are a terrorist”, but maybe things aren’t quite so clear-cut after all.

Two weeks ago, three convicted terrorists flew from Panama to Florida, entering the country without any legal challenge. The trio’s flight came immediately after the outgoing Panamanian president had ordered their early release; an act which caused outrage in Central America.

So why would the United States allow such undesirables in to the country? It turns out that the three had been convicted for killing Cuban nationals, and one of them had been trained by the CIA during the 1960s, remaining on the payroll until the mid 1980s.

For someone who claims the world is black and white, George Bush still has the ability to see grey when required. It seems Machiavelli was right - “The enemy of my enemy is my friend”.
