The suspicion I had that any credible economist would have already drowned in the deluge of election spending has just been confirmed.
Announcing a plan to spend $49 million to help volunteer groups and local councils deal with major disasters, Attorney-General, Philip Ruddock, claimed the net benefit of the program would be $12 billion per year.
Pardon??? $49 million spent over four years can result in a benefit of $12 billion per year? And the coalition claim that Labor aren’t credible economic managers.
