I use Google-owned Blogger.com for this weblog and I’ve been very happy with the free service. It’s easy to create and manage posts and Blogger will allow you to host the blog on your own server so you don’t have to put up with any advertising (other than a small logo on your pages). The pages created are simple HTML files with no complex hosting requirements so I pay about US$2 per month for this domain.
One thing I would like to do is easily create photo albums using the Blogger theme. Up until now I’ve been restricted to manually adding photos to weblog posts - this works well but it can be time consuming and doesn’t result in a classic ‘photo gallery’ navigation style. See the Photos from Taman Negara post for an example.
Galerie is a free program which allows you to create a photo album directly from Apple’s iPhoto. I spent a fair amount of time playing with these products over the weekend and I’ve created a Galerie template which mimics the Blogger template style I use for this weblog. It was relatively simple and the results can be seen in my USA, Europe, Malaysia and Singapore gallery.
Stay tuned for instructions on how I created the template.
