Despite Telstra spending a large part of their annual AUD$100 million marketing budget trying to convince us otherwise, it turns out that Australia has one of the world’s most expensive broadband pricing regimes. Australia also has the honour of being having the second lowest broaband penetration level of the thirty countries surveyed by International Telecommunications Union.
Australian consumers are paying far more for high-speed internet services than those in other developed countries, according to a report by the International Telecommunications Union.
The survey also confirms the relatively low rate of broadband use in Australia, ranking the country 29th on a table of 30 countries in terms of broadband subscribers per 100 inhabitants.
