Jimmy's weblog

Since you are my readers, and I have not been much of a traveller, I will not talk about people a thousand miles off, but come as near home as I can. As the time is short, I will leave out all the flattery, and retain all the criticism. — Henry David Thoreau

The next Nelson Mandela???

Friday August 22, 2003 06:17

Pauline Hanson, the xenophobic politician from Queensland, has just been jailed for three years for electoral fraud. After rising quickly to infamy with her racist and simplistic policies, her political career collapsed just as rapidly.

It appears she has few remaining supporters, with one exception - the Pauline Hanson website which compares her favourably to the great Nelson Mandela, joint winner of the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize.

Wednesday 20th August 2003, 2:32pm a political milestone has been cast. A landmark decision not seen since Nelson Mandela was thrown in jail for representing the views of the oppressed voice of South Africa. Pauline now sits in jail for following the same ideals.

Silly me, I always thought Nelson Mandela fought against racism, not promoted it.
