Since you are my readers, and I have not been much of a traveller, I will not talk about people a thousand miles off, but come as near home as I can. As the time is short, I will leave out all the flattery, and retain all the criticism. — Henry David Thoreau

Britannia rules the rugby waves

The dismal weather reflected the mood of the majority of the crowd after England put on a brilliant first half display to set up their 25-14 win over Australia at Docklands Stadium last night.

Omniously, it looks like England may have a good chance of taking Bill (the William Webb Ellis trophy) home in 2003 after defeating World Cup hopefuls Australian and New Zealand in the past two weeks.

There is still hope for loyal supporters of Australian sport though. We can point to recent results in soccer, rugby league, cricket, netball and tennis when the Poms start trading insults. Not to mention that for the next few months we still hold Bill from the 1999 Rugby World Cup.
